Hello, and welcome. My name is Brenden Obuck and I am a music producer and sound designer under the alias “Fresqua.”
My first start in music began while studying guitar in my hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan, and at the old age of eighteen, I pursued my degree in Digital Audio Arts from the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta.
I started out wanting to record and produce for indy-rock bands similar to artists like The Arkells and The Junction, but during my time in university, I discovered the joy and excitement of EDM music from artists like Oliver Heldens and Curbi. Thus began my journey into learning anything and everything I could about electronic production during the remaining years in my degree.
In 2014 I had the privilege of establishing and running a radio program on CKXU called “Lights Out.” During the program’s running, I have had the opportunity to work with talented artists such as Louis the Child, Audiation, and Khaos to name a few.
As a performer, I have been blessed with being able to perform alongside amazing artists such as Terravita, Whipped Cream, and Peep This. As well, I have had the opportunity to perform in many cities and festivals across Western Canada such as Center of Gravity in Kelowna, BC.
A lover of all things bass and groovy, I enjoy blending many styles of music into my performances for sets that anyone can dance to. My primary genres include Future Bass, Trap, House, with Hip-hop and Pop remixes thrown in.
In the studio, I bring the influence of such EDM artists as Slushii, Marshmello, Louis the Child, Ekali, and Galantis. However, growing up with a background in guitar and vocals, I am also heavily influenced from artists such as Adam Young of Owl City and Swimming With Dolphins, Canadian pop artist Lights, The Arkells, and The Junction. From the Hip-hop scene, artists that inspire my productions would include Chance the Rapper and Post Malone.
